"Let's remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a party founded on the values of self-reliance and individual liberty and national unity." - Obama acceptance speech
Actually President elect Obama, the republican party of the 1800's had very little to do with the republican party of today. It was founded as a moral crusading party hellbent on abolishing slavery and polygamy at any costs. This utilitarian approach included such "individual liberty " measures like revoking civil liberties including habeas corpus during the civil war and revoking just about all civil rights of mormon pioneers through horrible legislation such as the Edmonds Tucker act. Imagine if today you saw a Right to Life party or Marriage for all party, this is what the republican party was founded as. It has very little to do with self reliance, and it did believe in national unity, but that unity was at the end of a Smith & Wesson. Lets hope President Obama learns to speak from the other end when he takes office.

I wasn't crazy about either candidate, but man it's annoying how they can go on and on just to say what people want to hear or to sound inspiring.
Major dumb moment for me...I watched his acceptance speech online and accidentally watched his Democratic nod speech rather than last night's speech. I was totally annoyed with it. My mom just set me straight and I've gotta hand it to both candidates, they both gave good speeches. Even if it was out of the wrong end ;)
I thought Pastor Obama did a right fine job. Can he form his own church of government dependence and tax and spend policies with sermons of killing babies??? Yes he can!
