It pays to work for attorneys

Working for attorneys has come in handy a few times, and it didn't disappoint today. I was barely out of my driveway when I was pulled over. Not much of a shocker considering the amount of tickets I'm used to getting but I've been good here in NY and haven't had any...until today. Luckily it was a non-moving violation and won't go on my record. But it was, however, for not having an inspected car. As everything else in NY, registration and inspections make little sense to me. Your registration is every other year but inspections are yearly. So I misunderstood. Luckily, one of my attorneys is going to get my fine reduced. YAY. Oh and there is a fine (pretty hefty) and a surcharge (really hefty). If someone could explain to me why, that'd be great?

How did they know your car wasn't inspected? Do you have to have a special sticker or something? Good thing you have a little help getting it reduced. It pays to have friends in high places, huh?!

Yep, we have little stickers for registration and inspection on our front windshield. So they noticed the color of the inspection sticker was from last year and caught me. So annoying.
